In addition to the three types of connectors defined in the previous version of the HDMI standard, the HDMI 1.4 specification also introduces a new Type D connector designed for mobile phones, portable cameras and other small-sized portable devices. Its size is equivalent to a micro-USB connector, and all the power and functional requirements for HDMI connection are packed into a small-size design. The micro HDMI cable uses a 19-pin design like other HDMI connectors, which can process video signals up to 1080p, providing high-quality HD resolution for handheld devices. This new connector is 50% smaller in size than the current HDMI mini connector. The micro HDMI cable is thicker, about 6mm wide and 2.3mm thick.
